Wallstreet’s soothesayers…

March 31, 2009 · Filed Under Social Commentary · 2 Comments

No doubt there’s over a thousand articles each day, being posted on the web, that describes our economic future.  Some say the sky is falling, others – things not so bad.

Here’s my economic forecast:  Its all crap.

Crap.

Yes, no one really knows, everyone is simply guessing.   Al Gore’s version of the stock market:  take a factoid, figure out how to make it do hand stands.

And the more convincing the opiner, the more of a gathering they acquire.

Then another shifting wind and and its attending new idea about economic tsunamis.

Here.

I got a message for all you experts:

Just shut up.

Got that?  Shut up.

Go research global warming instead.

Thanks

True Leadership

March 23, 2009 · Filed Under Leadership and Management · 2 Comments

Yeah, my friend Rob Patterson inspired me again.  This time with a thought provoking idea about true leadership.  What a metaphor he advances!  That leadership is being like a river!

Being like a river.

He then delights us with a timeless snippet of some old Lawrence of Arabia film.

Yeah, flowing robes, horses dashing across the hot sands, swords flashing in the sun!

And his missive could not have happened at a better time.

Yes, how apropos that yesterday was “International talk like William Shatner Day”.

Now…. That’s… Leadership!

Don’t try to be like some river,  Unsure how to do that anyway.   No, far more effective, far more believable  - just learn to talk like Captain Kirk!

Kirk here, beam me up.

Sorry Rob – I couldn’t resist.

The Fix

March 22, 2009 · Filed Under Social Commentary · 3 Comments

Meet my brother, Dave, everyone.  This is Dave’s debut to the blog-o-sphere, with this, his very first article.  Dave and I have something in common…  We do our best to rehab our brother, the family’s token liberal – shhh. Its our family’s darkest secret.  Yes, my bother Paul is a tree hugging, flower sniffing liberal.

Where was I – oh yeah, Dave’s first blog experience!

Attend.

The Fix.

It only requires three simple ingredients:  One measure of Newt, one measure of Mitt and a heaping amount of Jesus.  Notice the lack of the Obama spice.

They say what the world needs now is love sweet love.  There is no love in Washington; that love died when Ronald Reagan left the White House.  We endured the Clinton Administration with all the indignation we could handle.  We flourished for the first six years under George W. Bush.  The GNP, housing and employment way up.

THEN….

The Democratic party took over in Congress, and to a lesser extent in the Senate.  INTRODUCING:  Rep (D)  Barney Frank and Sen (D) Chris Dodd.  They were so insistent on making sure those who couldn’t afford a home had the financing to make sure they couldn’t pay the loan back, had an opportunity to fail and go bankrupt.  It was like I’ll pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today.  This was the beginning of the downfall.  Any one who tells you different is clueless.  These two "men" were responsible for regulating the banking industry and they failed on a biblical scale.  Vote these bums out!

SWITCH…Newt Gingrich has to be one of the smartest, most informed and most trusted men in America.  I once met this man at the Atlanta Airport.  I asked him (then the Speaker of the House) what I could do to help President Reagan.  He told me to call my local Rep. and Sen’s and demand that they support the "Reagan Revolution".

Only by supporting his ideals could we overcome the problems we have.  I saw him as a very sincere and driven man.  SWITCH…  He is still to this day supporting the same ideals. He has earned the respect of the American people;  he has real ideas. ONE HELPING OF NEWT!

Mitt Romney.  One of the stupidest arguments during the Republican primary contest was that  Mitt Romney was a Mormon.  What about the facts?  He is a brilliant businessman.  He took a bankrupt Olympics and turned it into a huge success.  As the Gov. of Mass. he led the charge for an triple digit increase in jobs and a balanced budget.  How did we miss him.  He is smart, savvy and strong.  Add one helping of Mitt.

Last but not least is the only one who can actually help us.  That one is Jesus.  You can count on Newt and Mitt; never mind Rush, but you cannot discount the grace of our Christ.  Times are hard, people are suffering, people are scared.  Just add one helping of Jesus.

God Bless,

Dave
