Have we codified humanity into stupidity?
TED did it again. A great talk about how our never ending quest for more and more rules have sucked the life energy out of humanity. Yeah, in case you haven’t noticed, we have used such as these to supplant our morality, our common sense, indeed the very wisdom we embody.
Yes, instead of human beings making important life decisions, we have dumb, slacked jawed, moronic laws.
Attend.
Every once in a while I watch something on TED that truly resonates! Its as if his mouth is moving but I’m doing the talking!
Anyway, Barry reminded me of how I resent that the greatest degree of our freedom has been taken from us, not by the former President, George Bush and his Patriot Act, but by Class Action lawsuits, and their parasitic lawyers who make everyone so fearful and tentative. He reminded me of how near sighted union leaders are destroying American businesses and our ability to compete in a world economy, and finally, he reminded me of how corrupt politicians are continuing to hide behind all those moronic laws they keep writing.
Its all there – our undoing, our squandered greatness; our once towering self confidence and self reliance. And Barry Schwartz said it all in my very own words.
Here’s a great idea for today: fight back - at least once, don’t do what you’re told!
At least once.

Atlantis and Spam
We’ve found Atlantis.
Speaking of which, I had to enable the login function on my blog. I was getting over 100 spams per day. I just couldn’t get rid of it any other way!
Sorry.
But hey, who cares;like I said, we’ve found Atlantis!

Communications
Here’s a multiple choice leadership question.
Question: What would you do if you had an employee that you just couldn’t communicate with?
A. Belittle and ridicule him for the village idiot he is – and if that didn’t work, fire his dumb arse.
B. Look with utter amazement, each time he failed to follow directions or instructions. And in each such instance, mumble to yourself in a huff of indignation, “There’s no way I expected THAT to happen”!
C. Try to communicate in different ways; if its a foreign language barrier; start learning and encourage the employee, through personal example to do likewise.
I speak of Hispanics of course.
I know. Its out of the comfort zone for most of us. Learn the language of peasants? Learn how to communicate with such as “them”? We all know that these folks who live in America and don’t speak English are gaming the system and taking advantage of our tolerance and big heartedness to feast on all those minimum wage jobs.
Think of it! we’re handing out eight-fifty an hour, forty hours per week, to someone who won’t even speak English. Hey! For that kind of money, we could have hired a binge drinking, out of work dishwasher – you know, the one with the personal hygiene challenges?
But this is about me… All blogs are about their writers incidentally…
An interesting thing happened when I began to learn their language – I began to see their culture, their nuance, their warmth. I began to see that “they” are no longer “they”; but instead just like “us”; that is, part of that hard to describe inner circle of connections we reflexively make with each other.
I know. Its hard to put into words. How about this. You start to care about them as people, as worthy of God’s good grace as you.
Comprendo?
You know, language has always been our biggest and most insurmountable barrier. It prevents routine and casual human connection, and instead causes us to rely on bi-linguists, governments and translation aids to help us communicate.
I think its high time all that stops. Shouldn’t we stop clinging to that notion of “borders, culture and language”; and throw such money-changers and old-worlders under the bus for corrupting our humanity.
Imagine what America would become if we did that.
Well?
Vaya a Trabajar! (Get to work!)
